The MOU envisages extending the existing Chennai-based joint Certificate Program in Clinical Trials to the other AHERF centres in the country to meet the national needs for quality trained personnel in this expanding domain. The Chennai-based joint program with its academic rigor combined with application focus has been accepted very well by the industry, and hence the present step to scale up the same. The new locations where the program is expected to be started are New Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Beyond expanding and strengthening the existing training program in the Clinical Research area, the MOU also envisages collaboration between the two parties in the Basic as well as Translational Research in therapeutic, diagnostic and other allied disciplines of human health and diseases. Also covered are the areas of drugs and diseases research that use Bioinformatics and Modeling Tools followed by experimental validation of the theoretical predictions.

AU-KBC Research Centre, Centre for Biotechnology and Centre for Medical Electronics and Biomedical Engineering of Anna University Chennai have expertise and facilities in these domains and are expected to participate in joint programs with AHERF as envisaged in the MOU. The MOU that has been signed now is expected to lead to closer collaboration and joint research work in these fields between these two organizations, Apollo Hospitals Group on the one hand, and Anna University in general and AU-KBC Centre in particular on the other.
