Directions
and Maps for Visitors :
By
Suburban Train:
The M I T Campus of Anna University is directly
adjacent to the Chromepet railway station on the Beach - Tambaram
suburban rail line; crossing over the railway foot Overbridge
at the station takes you into the campus through the backgate
(Hostel-gate).
From Madras Central and Egmore:
From Madras Central, you have to walk across
(about 500m) to Park station. This involves crossing a busy
road, and newcomers may consider taking an auto (3-wheeler)
to Park station (10-15 Rs.) Board the Tambaram-bound suburban
train at Park; get off at Chromepet (about 25 Kms away).

From the
Airport:
From the airport, you can walk across to
the Thirusulam Railway station; take the trains heading to
Tambaram (i.e., away from the Beach). Chromepet is the second
station, the first being Pallavaram. Crossing over the railway
foot Overbridge at the station takes you into the campus through
the backgate (Hostel-gate). This is cheap, reliable and strongly
recommended to those who have little or no luggage.
You can also take an auto (3-wheeler) or
a taxi from the airport to Chromepet (4 km; 50 Rs by auto,
100 Rs by taxi; all drivers will gladly rip you off for more).
Ask for MIT Campus Chromepet as the destination. Autos and
Taxis are allowed to enter the campus through the main gate
to reach the Centre.

By Car:
Chromepet is on the Grand Southern Trunk
(GST) Road, 4 kms south of the Airport, but the campus is
on the other side of the railway tracks from the road (left
if you are going south). Use the MIT Chrompet flyover to reach
the Centre through main gate.

By Bus:
There are frequent buses to Chromepet (en
route to Tambaram) from Guindy, Saidapet and other stops on
Mount Road (Anna Salai) as well as from Koyambedu bus terminus.
Most of these buses originate from the bus terminus at Koyambedu
or Parry's Corner.
