Pan India Expansion

To meet the shortage of clinical research professionals in the pharmaceutical industry and to bring out certified and trained clinical research professionals AHERF and AU-KBC research centre, Anna University have been jointly offering the one year fulltime Advanced Certificate Course in Clinical Trial Management (ACC-CTM) at Chennai from 2009. The unique combination of sound Theoretical and strong practical training brings out the best in the students, giving them an edge over others in the competitive environment and ensuring their employability. AHERF and AU could bring in over 150 clinical research professionals in the last four batches. The students have been successfully placed in leading pharmaceutical companies, Clinical Research Organisations, Site Management Organisations, Research Institutions and Medical Writing companies across india.

With success in the course conduct, AHERF ventured into expanding this affiliation to the other AHERF centers across the country. After various rounds of discussion and mutual understanding, A MOU was signed on 19 july 2011 between Anna University and Apollo Hospitals Educational Research Foundation to expand the university affiliation to the other centers of AHERF. The MOU has a scope of expanding and strengthening the existing joint educational and training program in the areas of clinical research, including extension of Chennai based joint programs to cover the AHERF centers in other parts of the country.

As per the MOU, the first batch of “Post Graduate Certificate Course in Clinical Research” was initiated at other AHERF centers at Hyderabad and Kolkata in july 2011 and Ahmadabad on Oct 2011 with affiliation to AU.

The student undergoing this course at the AHERF Pan India has an advantage of having Clinical Research training t Hospital environment with standardized and uniform course content and assessment pattern at all centres. Expert faculties are identified from various academic, industry and research institutions cover the theory classes for six months, which is followed by 6 months hands on experience working at AHERF clinical Trial Units as CRC Trainees. The course activities are governed by a Joint Co-ordination Committee (JCC) with members from both AU and AHERF.

As a part of this joint certification the candidates will be spending approximately 2 weeks at AU attending lectures at the AU-KBC centre at MIT campus by the experts they are also exposed to various workshops, seminars and visits to reputed research institutions.
