CHENNAI-25 A National
Resource Centre (NRC) for Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) has been
set up in Anna University (MIT Chromepet Campus) as a joint initiative
between Anna University and C-DAC Chennai. It is a project funded
by the Dept. of Information Technology, Govt. of India, and is aimed
at large scale promotion and proliferation of FOSS in the country.
One of the activities of the Centre is to introduce two FOSS Electives
in the curriculum of BE/MCA/MSC( CS) programs of selected engineering
colleges of Anna University , constituent as well as affiliated colleges.
Two teachers of the BE/MCA/MSC( CS) programs from each of the selected
colleges are to undergo training programs to enable them to offer
these two electives in their respective colleges. The first training
program for teachers is during 1st -- 3rd week of June 05. For details
