FOSS Congress

As a part of its promotional efforts, NRCF would organise an annual event called the "FOSS Congress" that will showcase the Indian scene in the FOSS area. It will have a range of events such as

  • Exhibitions and Demonstrations of FOSS work being carried out in India Business Meet
  • Seminars and paper presentations organised thematically in parallel sessions
  • Plenary sessions presenting major common issues
  • Talks by eminent personalities
  • Contests on subjects like Design,Programming, Localisation, Promotion, etc.
  • Special Student events etc.

The FOSS Congress will be the biggest event in India on this theme and would have large-scale participation from Academia, Industry, Government, Voluntary Sector, and all other stake holders from all over India. Besides facilitating FOSS proliferation, networking and business promotion, the event would also generate inputs that can aid the formulation of Policies and Programs in this domain at the highest levels.

FOSS Congress is planned in Chennai during winter 2006. A separate Announcement and Call for Participation will be issued in due course.
