This group at AU-KBC is conceptualized as an independent group of pure mathematicians and computer scientists who devote a significant portion of their time to problems in security and network security.

The group as a whole has several major long term research areas that it is focusing on. Presently they are the following:

• The group is enterprise level PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) solutions. This is offered as Security solution to several Companies, Institution, and Government. This infrastructure offers digital certificates (X 509 version 3) to people, resources and assets. We have taken up several pilots.
• The group develops alternate encryption algorithms (Such as El Gamal, or Elliptic Curve or Finite Field solutions) that can be plugged in instead of RSA.
• The group provides security consultancy for several organization / institutions to develop smart card / smart media / smart token types of roaming solutions.
• The group is developing solutions to integrate our PKI with other PKI technologies (Such as Verisign, Entrust etc.,)
• For stronger security solutions, the group offers services to implement hardware based alternatives.
• The group works closely with the wireless communication group to provide WLAN security solutions for wireless frame work.
• The group is developing 'Web Guard', primarily focusing on preventing web hacking by integrating digital signature artifacts into the web publishing work flow.
