S. V. Ramanan

The lab is primarily interested in the function of gap junctions, both by themselves, and also in their functions in coordinated tissue function. Biophysical techniques are extensively employed, supplemented by molecular biology and biochemistry. We would also like to reassemble experimental results in models that can be used for prediction. The long-term goal is to understand syncytial function at a systemic level as well as in detail, in a framework that is extendable to inter-tissue and even inter-organ interactions.
